The great carnival of Alcázar de San Juan it is so unusual, because of an important reason, it takes place during Christmas. Due to this, there is the chance to see a lot of masks and disguises between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Usually, the burial of the sardine takes place on 28th of December, the same day of the Innocent Saints. Besides, the puppets that are in the balconies are tossed in a blanket and burnt.
This amazing festivity offers the great fun of the carnival mixed with the happiness of Christmas in a unique picturesque place, where you can enjoy both of those events at the same time. This is the main reason why this incredible carnival was named of National Touristic Interest on 12th December 2018.
