Approximately two weeks before the festivities, the inhabitants of Campo de Criptana move their patron, the Christ of Villajos, towards their town, on a day that is popularly known as "Thursday of the Christ". Then, on the night of August 23, a procession is held and then the festivities that take place in his honour are inaugurated until the 28th. On these dates, various events are organized. For example, there are literary and painting contests, performances of music bands, dance festivals and regional songs, as well as parades of floats and ‘comparsas’ and sports competitions, etc.
