The Ojailén tunnels are a group of five tunnels that belonged to an abandoned railway that ran parallel to the river Ojailén. The conditions of abandonment are that darkness during the winter, and the human neglect that have made the five tunnels home to an important colony of chiroptera or bats. For this reason they were included in the Natura 2000 Network; during wintering, the tunnels are a refuge for several species of endangered bats, including the Mediterranean horseshoe bat, the medium horseshoe bat, the big horseshoe bat and the cave bat.
Visits inside the tunnels are not allowed, especially during the hibernation period, as they may disturb the bat population.
It is recommended to visit it during daylight hours.
