Cabrerón reservoir

Add it to your travel notebook

It is a real oasis of biodiversity in this dry land. Originally designed to supply water to the population, it is no longer used for this purpose. Today, it is a wetland "conquered by nature".

As it is embedded in the dense Mediterranean scrubland with its abundance of rockroses, it is an ideal watering place for the diverse fauna of this area.

On the other hand, it is not difficult to spot deer, roe deer or wild boar, as well as a varied range of water birds. The waters of the reservoir provide these animals food, thanks to the fish and amphibians that live in them. In addition, there is a multitude of birds such as kites, kestrels, eagles, swallows, magpies, wheatears, etc.

The Cabrerón is a clear demonstration that human interference does not always have a negative effect on nature.
