This is the most important winter refuge for bats in Castilla-La Mancha and one of the best in Spain. In this reserve, more than 5,400 individuals have been counted during the winter and up to 700 during spring and autumn.
It is also said to be the best winter shelter in Europe for the medium horseshoe bat, and is even the best shelter in Spain for two other types of bats: the greater horseshoe bat and the Mediterranean horseshoe bat.
It is possible to access the tunnel, but not to enter it as it is a sensitive and very fragile area.
It is recommended to visit it during daylight hours, accompanied by a guide.
