A place of unquestionable landscape and ecological value is the area around Piedrabuena, made up of several volcanic outcrops. The volcano known as Manoteras, Piedrabuena or La Arzollosa, which was formed from explosive and effusive eruptions, is 4 km from the town centre. The lava spread along the bottom of the basin.
Other smaller volcanoes called La Chaparra and the Sierra de La Cruz volcano are located 1 km away, the latter hanging over the Valdefuentes stream and giving rise to a wide, short lava flow.
This area is home to endangered species, including the Iberian lynx and several types of birds of prey.
